After a very tiring trip, I am home doing laundry!
It took an hour and a half and €14.60 round-trip ticket to get me to Antwerp, Belgium. Marjaana and I visited the Diamond District, the Park, the Central, the Cathedral, walked to the Schelde and “Laundry Day”, stayed at a “youth hotel” (a.k.a. hostel), and went to the Antwerp Zoo. We sampled many Belgium chocolates, restaurants, waffles, and rode on the Trams as much as possible. I got to see what backpacking will be like for my future trips during the year. Let’s just say, if you can buy it, don’t pack it!
Here are some of the many photos I took this weekend:

T.M. I am jealous. I loved Belgium when I visited years ago. And the Chocolates.....It is so good to see that you are having a good time. You are my favorite blogger.

Hi T.M.
I read your blog and just wanted to let you know I am a Dutch student who went to WCU a few years ago. I graduated in 2003, but still have awesome memories from those days, especially from my fraternity, AKPSi! I know it can be tough at times in a strange country, so if you ever need any help or you would like some travelling tips for Europe, just let me know.
You can e-mail me at and I will then give you my contact details.
Enjoy your year in Breda!

Hello,
I was looking at the WCU as i was planning on joining the avans school in breda and we have to go abroad the final 2 years of our school.
I came across on your blog and if you read this i wonder if you could mail me at because i would like to find out some more about WCU and was hoping you could help me out, i also live right around the corner of your current school (you know the big white bank “van Landschot” or Hotel Mastbosch on the corner? Well it’s just a little further then that!)..
Hope you can drop in a mail.
Thank you and enjoy your stay!
