Well, it has been quite a while since I have updated this blog. There has been a lot going on and I have been super busy that is why I haven’t been able to update. We recently just had spring break and it was a blast. I went to Tallahassee, FL for the first 3 days and played golf then for the remainder of spring break drove down to Panama City Beach, FL. I went with one of my fraternity brothers, Ashton. We played over spring break two times in Tallahassee and I beat him both times by a combined stroke total of 7 strokes.
A few months ago I won the position of VP Finance for the Inter-Fraternity Council. We have a great Executive board and great Graduate student advisor. Three weeks ago as an executive board, including Tiffany(grad student advisor) and Tim Inman( Director for geek life here on campus), we went to the South Eastern Inter-Fraternity conference. It was held in Atlanta, GA and over 50 over schools IFC Exe Boards were there. Over 400 campus leaders gathered together to bring back great ideas to their own school. We had great keynote speakers that spoke to us as a large group and also had amazing small group leaders that would lead roundtable discussions in any number of topics. As VP Finance here at WCU, I learned many great ways to create a better budget and make our money last longer.
There is only 8 weeks left of school so it about crunch time for me. I am currently looking at internships in Charlotte and Atlanta for the summer. I have had interviews with a few companies and hope to hear back from them soon. Till next time.

The semester has been going on strong so far. Classes are getting tougher and tougher as time goes on. We just had registration time for upper classmen in the past few days. After a day of fighting with the computer and rearranging my class schedule I think I got what should be a tough little schedule for next semester.
A few weeks ago was Fall Break, we had off Wed, Thursday, Friday. Instead of going home myself, and one of my Fraternity brothers Ashton went down to Tallahassee, FL. Other than some of Ashton’s family living in Tallahassee, there was Florida State University. A huge College, about 25,000 more than Western Carolina University. We met some of our fraternity brothers down at FSU, they have a huge Chapter 150 brothers compared to our 40. It was really cool and interesting hanging out with some of them and seeing what they do at FSU compared to WCU. We also went to the FSU vs BC football game that Saturday. BC or Boston College is always a team I pull for, being Catholic and all. Boston College won the game 24-19. The weather was incredible over break, it was mid 90’s for the football game compared to mid 40’s at WCU. Overall, very fun week and cannot wait to travel somewhere else to do it again.

This week 5th week grades comes out. The semester has been going on good for a while. And Good news, we have another new member. Luckily, with Sig Ep with our Balanced Man Program we are allowed to pick up new members any time of the year. That is why the Balanced Man Program is the best Member development program. We have been working on Homecoming the past few weeks, the planning, meetings and so on. And Homecoming is only in less than 2 weeks away! Every year groups from IFC(fraternities), CPC(Sororities), and NPHC(Black Sororities and Fraternities) are grouped up in teams of 2 or 3 organizations. We do certain events together, like a relay at the soccer game, banner contest, and most importantly build, and put together a Homecoming Float that will be in the homecoming parade in Sylva on the Friday night before Homecoming Saturday.
This past week the Greeks(IFC + CPC) adopted or hosted the Women’s soccer game, where the lady Catamounts defeated UNC-Asheville 3-0. At halftime, they had a greek relay and some fraternities and sororities participated in the relay where we had to do soccer skills. Sigma Chi eventually won, even though Paul Young, a member of Sigma Chi and friend of mine cannot chug Powerade to save his life.
Elections are coming up in around a month and there is a lot of action around campus, Heath Schuler is coming to WCU in a few weeks to talk to students on a monday night on the UC lawn.
A couple weeks ago i joined the International Business club, we are meeting once a week to discuss a future trip next semester, probably during spring break to visit a foreign country, we are talking about Holland, the UK, and Canada. We are checking prices of flights and hotels over in those areas. While over there we will of course check out the country and also check out a company that we choose after we find out where we are going. I am definlty looking forward to that.

RUSH week has started and it is already almost over. The first two days of rush, Monday and Tuesday, we had campus sponsered IFC events. Last night was great, we had a BBQ meet and greet. Met all of the potential new members, had a great meal cooked by one of our brothers Russ Pangle. We had an awesome turnout by the way, I think the grand total was right around 23. Tonight we are grilling out and playing volleyball on our volleyball court. Hopefully we will have as many as last night. Rush week is going awesome so far, hope it continues.

Well, this week has blown by. I have been kinda busy with classes, studying, and other things. I am really enjoying my classes so far still. My Tuesday’s and Thursday’s are filled up with 4 classes, two in the morning and two in the afternoon so its a very full day. In Management 300, we had to subscribe to the Wall Street Journal which is a different change to someone who has never read the publication before. The reading in it really is not all that bad. I am planning a lot of Fraternity Events around here on campus for the semester and am very excited about these. We will be doing many, community service projects including Roadside Cleanup of Highway 107, where our chapter has adopted that part of the highway. We will be also putting on an Alcohol Awareness seminar/program for the community and campus. Tonight was the first softball game for SigEp and we WON. This year looks to be another great one in Intramurals and the Fraternity.
