The Rapid Center’s mission is to match the Kimmel School’s expertise and resources to Western North Carolina’s needs by forming effective partnerships to grow the region’s economy, assisting in generating value-creating jobs, and improving the quality of life for its people.
We're conveniently placed to offer you and your company programs in specific areas.
Faculty and staff affiliated with the Center will work with you in our high-tech, state-of-the-art facilities to pave an efficient development path:
- Match RP method to development stage and requirements
- Evaluate form, fit, and function with rapid prototypes
- Field-test functional prototypes, prevent costly tooling mistakes
- Verify specifications using contact or non-contact metrology
- Optimize manufacturing methods with input from our experts
- Secure patent applications and technology transfer agreements
We also partner with other universities and institutions through the Carolinas MicroOptics Triangle and Carolinas Photonics Consortium to further improve our collective research, business and educational services.
